“We will speak to the minister, our MLA, and the agriculture department in this regard. An expenditure of Rs 5 lakh is expected for this initiative. We are raising funds and Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has promised to provide seeds for cultivation. People should help us financially. We have opened an account with the Bank of India on behalf of the club,” said Naik.
The NFC has been implementing various initiatives for farmers for the last 12 years. It has also started a facility centre for local farmers.
“This year, a large amount of vegetables have been given to the Horticulture Corporation through this centre. Rice obtained from our new initiative will be sold through this facility centre. If this initiative becomes successful then the farming organisations of other villages in Bardez will be encouraged to do the same,” said Naik.
