PANAJI: Milan Chavan, a social worker from Navelim, will be felicitated by the Lingayat Gawali Samaj on the occasion of her 55th birthday. Chavan, who began her career in journalism, later dedicated herself to social work. Coming from the Lingayat Milkman community, she has been working for the upliftment of her caste, which faces issues of poverty and illiteracy. She played a key role in forming the Goa Lingayat Gawali Samaj Society and getting it registered with the government, enabling the community to access various welfare schemes. For her years of service and commitment, her community will honour her contribution.
