MARGAO: Assonora United entered the semi finals of 34th All Goa St Anne's inter-village festival soccer tournament after defeating United Club of Verna by a solitary goal, organised by Ponda Footballers powered by Dr Bhatikar Charitable trust & Rising Ponda supported by SAG played at Animal Husbandry ground, Curti-Ponda.
Sunil Desai scored the all important goal in the second half. Both the teams played an attacking game but both the defenders from both side stood firm. A long ball into the danger zone and the Verna keeper who was in two minds was late in coming out and Sunil took the opportunity and chipped over the advancing keeper to score the only goal of the match.
Sunil Pujari proprietary of Never Energy Drink was the chief guest and gave away the man of the match prize to Sunil Desai of Assonora United.
