Jazz Goa will mark International Jazz Day by featuring acclaimed singers and musicians at an event on April 30.
This year, Jazz Goa plans on inviting Goa's iconic singer Lorna as the headlining act where she will sing jazz standards that she used to be known for before her Konkani songs took over Goa.
“Jazz Goa is the only organisation in India to host International Jazz Day right from the very first global event in 2012. Many other organizations in Goa, across India and around the world now host this event annually on April 30,” stated Jazz Goa founder Colin D’Cruz.
Some of the most accomplished Indian as well as international jazz artistes have performed at Jazz Goa's International Jazz Day events. Prominent among them have been singers Hemaa Sardesai and Sonia Shirsat, jazz guitar virtuosos Gerard Machado and Salim John, pianists Tony Dias and Xavier Peres, drummers Carlos Gonsalves and Matteo Fraboni, saxophonists M'tafiti Imara and David Jacome, trumpet player Bob Tinker, bass player Colin D'Cruz and many more.
Jazz Goa looks forward to having as many guest artistes as possible this year and those interested in performing are requested to send their showreel by email (jazzgoa@yahoo.com).
