SIOLIM: The Village Panchayat Child Committee, along with V.P. Siolim-Marna, marked the 79th Independence Day with the unfurling of the National Flag by Sarpanch Amit Morajkar in the presence of a large gathering. SSCE and HSSCE toppers, sportspersons and team champions were felicitated with a memento and Rs 1,000, while their parents received potted plants.
Students of St. Francis Xavier’s High School, St. F. X. Higher Secondary and Keerti Vidyalaya presented patriotic songs, a skit was staged by children led by Victor Gonsalves, and a fancy dress by St. Francis de Sales Pre-Primary showcased freedom fighters. A PowerPoint presentation on plastic pollution was delivered by Tanvi Krishnani. Chairperson Gregory D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
