PORVORIM: In a spirit of synodality, the faithful of Candelaria Chapel at Porvorim conducted the liturgical services during the Trezena in honour of St Anthony. The celebrant, Fr Walter de Sa, along with Fr Urbino Monteiro, dwelt on and reflected upon the significance and importance of the Holy Mass for genuine Christian living. The solemn Feast Day Mass was held on June 13, the day of the Saint’s death.
At the end of the Mass, all the parishioners took part in a penitential procession, wending their way to another chapel dedicated to St Anthony. The Chaplain recited a prayer and imparted a blessing to all the people gathered around the chapel. This chapel was formerly known as Kasnichem Kopel, built in 1558, and has now been relocated and rebuilt along National Highway 66. The celebration ended with the singing of the hymn ‘Sant Antoni Bhokta’.
