Jesuit school in Belagavi gets new principal

BELAGAVI: Noted Jesuit priest, educationist and social activist Fr Eric Mathias from Karnataka has taken charge as the Principal of the prestigious St Paul’s High School, Belagavi. Outgoing Principal Fr Simon Fernandes, who will soon take charge as Rector of Loyola High School, Margao, officially welcomed Fr Mathias to his new role.

Fr Mathias brings with him vast experience in education and social service. He has served as the founder and principal of several well-known educational institutions across Karnataka. A native of Udupi, he is widely recognised for his contribution to education and social development in different parts of the state.

Over the years, Fr Mathias has played a key role in establishing educational institutions in Raichur, Manvi, Mangaluru, Harihar, Sindagi and other places. He has also founded several NGOs and Self-Help Groups and has worked extensively for the welfare of Dalits, economically weaker sections and Devadasi communities through initiatives related to education, healthcare, drinking water and other basic facilities.
