A man from Vasco was allegedly assaulted by a group of unidentified persons on Bogmalo road in Dabolim late on Saturday night.
According to Vasco police, the incident took place at around 10 pm on June 13 when Sudarshan Rajput, a resident of Alto Vaddem, Vasco, was allegedly confronted by seven to eight unidentified persons. The group is accused of forming an unlawful assembly, abusing him in foul language and assaulting him.
Police said the accused allegedly slapped Rajput on his back and near the neck, causing injuries.
Based on Rajput’s complaint, Vasco police have registered an offence under Sections 189(2), 352, 115(2) read with Section 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the unidentified accused.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Suresh Velip of Vasco Police Station under the supervision of PI Vaibhav Naik and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
