Minister for Art & Culture, Tribal Welfare, Sports & Youth Affairs and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar chaired a review meeting on Forest Rights Committee (FRC) cases in Canacona taluka on Tuesday at the PWD Rest House, Shristhal.
The meeting reviewed the status of FRC cases, discussed pending matters, examined survey reports and deliberated on Green Zone issues affecting local communities.
Among those present were Director of Sports & Youth Affairs Ajay Gawade, officials from the Forest Department, Revenue Administration and Panchayats, as well as members of various Forest Rights Committees in the taluka.
Tawadkar stressed the need for the timely disposal of pending cases and transparency in the survey process. He also called for better coordination among departments to protect the rights of local communities while ensuring sustainable development.
The meeting comes at a time when residents of Khotigao have expressed concerns over possible displacement due to the proposed expansion of the Green Zone in the Khushawati district. They have sought the intervention of the Chief Minister to safeguard their homes, temples and farmlands.
