Started in 2011, The Fundação Oriente Short Story Competition aims to revive the storytelling tradition by fostering original writing and supporting the cultural and linguistic diversity of Goa. The fact that this competition judges all languages at the same level makes it unique in the country and gets the attention of many participants every year. The competition was open to persons 18 years and above who reside in Goa, both amateur and professional. Short stories can be written in Konkani (Devnagiri/Romi), Marathi, Portuguese and English. The jury invited by Fundação Oriente selected the 25 finalists (among 98 stories received), which will be part (the 25 finalist stories) of the upcoming Anthology next year; however, the winners (3rd prize, 2nd prize, and 1st prize) will be announced on December 4 at 6 pm at Fundação Oriente in Panaji stated Paulo Jorge da Silva Gomes, director of Fundação Oriente in India.
