PANAJI
In North India, the Navratri celebrations are marked with great religious rituals. In South India too the same is celebrated by worshiping idols made of mud and is placed on wooden or steel steps with odd figures like 3,5,7,9,11 steps. The idols are worshipped on all nine days by offering prasad. The same is kept as a mark of remembrance of how Devi Durga was sheltering in caves to save herself from Bhairav nath and she spent her time in caves by making idols of mud which saved her from clutches of Bhairav nath.
