A 28-year-old scooter rider from Peddem-Mapusa died in a road mishap at Dattawadi, Mapusa on Thursday night. According to reports, the incident took place at about 8 pm as Bharat Halki was proceeding from Dattawadi towards the Maruti temple.
Devotees had come to the temple for darshan and cars were parked on both sides of the road. While Halki was riding his scooter down the ramp, the two-wheeler struck the open door of a car. He fell on the ground and sustained serious injuries.
An ambulance could not reach the site on time and Halki was moved to the Mapusa District Hospital in a police vehicle, where he was declared dead. PSI Ajay Dhuri and Constable Nilesh Ghadi conducted a panchnama of the accident and Mapusa police are conducting further investigation.
