87 screened under TB elimination drive

‘Nikshay Shivir’ held at Advalpal Bicholim

Nikshay Shivir for the 100 days TB elimination campaign was held at Advalpal village panchayat in Bicholim on Monday, screening 87 persons for early detection and prevention of tuberculosis. The health check-up camp was organised by the government of Goa, CHC Bicholim, AAM Advalpal in collaboration with Fomento Resources Private Limited at village Panchayat Advalpal. Discussions on symptoms, nutrition, and early detection were held to empower Goans for timely treatment under the ‘Jan Jan Ka Rakhe Dhyaan, TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’.

Sarpanch Subatta Vinayak Samant of Advalpal GP, Ayush Medical Officer Dr Meenakshi Mayekar along with a team of technicians and others conducted the camp, with the help of volunteers from Fomento Resources including Dhanraj Tule, manager of Block V – Advalpale Thivim Mineral Block Mine of Fomento Resources Pvt Ltd. The camp was organised for the people in Advalpal village GP.

In a nationwide effort to combat tuberculosis (TB), the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has launched a 100-day intensified campaign to screen and treat TB cases wherein screening camps are held across the country and in all States. The camps branded as ‘Nikshay Shivir’ are being organised with State Health Departments and District TB officers and will go a long way in raising awareness about TB’s prevention, symptoms and cure. More such camps will be held across the villages in Goa.

In addition to screenings, Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials will be displayed too. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has provided comprehensive guidelines to support these activities.
