Goa government has written to Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis requesting land in Pandharpur or a nearby taluka for constructing a Varkari Bhavan to facilitate Goan devotees travelling for the annual pilgrimage.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant informed the House that the government will initiate the process to formulate an appropriate policy scheme to provide financial assistance to Pandharpur Yatris/ varkaris/ groups from the State and that necessary budgetary provision will be made for implementation of the scheme.
Sawant was responding to the Private Member Resolution moved by MLA Premendra Shet demanding that the House resolves and recommends the government to frame necessary policies to finance the Pandharpur Yatra. The resolution supported by all MLAs was accepted by the House.
