BICHOLIM
Ten candidates were elected unopposed and 397 candidates will contest panchayat elections for 125 wards in the 17 panchayats of Bicholim taluka, after 63 candidates withdrew their nominations on Wednesday.
Returning Officers Lakshmikant Kuttikar and Apurva Karpe informed that the 10 candidates elected unopposed are Swapana Parsekar (Velguem), Nisha Naik Pali and Prasad Naik (Navelim), Krishna Arolkar (Latambarcem), Gitesh Gadekar (Advalpal), Suvarna Chodankar (Mayem), Chetan Khodginkar (Pilgao), Anjali Chari (Van Maulinge Kudchire) and Divya Naik (Karapur Sarvan).
Campaigning will start in all villages and the 17 panchayats in Bicholim taluka will get a new set of 125 panchayat members on August 12.
