Seven candidates are set to be elected unopposed in panchayat elections for the first time in Sattari, while 102 candidates filed their nominations on the last day on Monday.
The seven candidates who are likely to be elected unopposed are Somnath Kale (Mauxi), Sarita Gaonkar and Subhash Gawade (Thane), Akshaita Gawade (Guleli), Udaysing Rane (Bhironda), Rajashree Jalmi (Pissurlem) and Shivaji Desai (Sawarde).
Scrutiny of forms will be taken up on Tuesday and withdrawal of forms will be permitted on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, there was a large crowd at the Mamletdar’s office in Valpoi, as 102 candidates filed their nominations on the last day. Police teams were deployed to maintain law and order.
