The Department of Home (General) has directed that all casino operations in Goa will remain closed on October 2, as a mark of respect to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary.

All casino licensees have been instructed to suspend gaming activities from the intervening midnight of October 1 and 2 until the intervening midnight of October 2 and 3, covering the entire 24 hours of October 2.

Separately, the Office of the Commissioner of Excise has notified that all liquor outlets, including those selling packaged bottles and premises licensed for on-site consumption, will also remain closed across the state.
