As announced, Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday launched its campaign to highlight the poor condition of roads with party leaders and volunteers identifying potholes across the State and planting flags of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in them.

The campaign styled #BJPCheBurak was launched from Panaji by AAP State president Amit Palekar and other leaders at the Four Pillars roundabout near Neuginagar.

Also at several places across Goa, AAP leaders sat on potholes and planted the BJP flags in them.

In a statement, the party said every road crater in Goa is BJP’s true legacy and blamed the Pramod Sawant-led government and PWD for turning Goa's roads into death traps despite splurging taxpayers’ money on them.

Palekar alleged that Rs 1400 crore were spent on the city but the capital city is full of potholes.

"Some of these craters can swallow a scooter. So we thought, why not plant BJP flags here since every pothole in Goa belongs to them (BJP).”

Palekar also hit out at the PWD's "incompetence" , saying the system has collapsed and there was no accountability.

"Work to repair the potholes begins when AAP points it out. So, as a service to their incompetency, we decided to sit on potholes ourselves and show them where work is pending." Palekar said, adding that it is the only way to get roads fixed.

Palekar said the helpline launched by the party on Saturday is flooded with complaints which will be compiled and submitted to the government.

“We will go to every corner of Goa and continue this fight until contractors are punished and PWD engineers are held accountable,” he said.

Meanwhile AAP's State General Secretary (Organisation) Shrikrishna Parab called out the government for the inefficiency of their app service to file complaints alleging that it shows 548 complaints and all of them were resolved.

"That dashboard is a joke. Just step outside and see the reality. The government is not just incompetent, it is shamelessly dishonest,” Parab said.

Meanwhile party working president, Rajesh Kalangutkar said that not just roads but every government department under the BJP is full of buraks.

"Even the treasury has holes where taxpayers money goes waste. Contractors deliver shoddy work and repair the roads but the potholes reappear in 15 days," Kalangutkar said.

AAP Vice President Sunil Signapurkar claimed that the chief minister had recently released tenders for pre-monsoon work but within days potholes return.

"Now post-monsoon tenders will be handed out to the same failed contractors. If BJP is serious, it should seize contractors’ deposits and hold engineers accountable," Signapurkar added.
