Amid cabinet reshuffle news, Environment Minister Alexio Sequeira tendered his resignation making way for induction of new Minister in the Pramod Sawant led cabinet. Two new MLAs are set to be sworn-in as Minister on Thursday at 12 pm
“I hereby tender my resignation as Minister from the Council of Ministers. I am compelled to take this decision due to personal reasons,” Sequeira said in his resignation letter submitted to CM.
Following Sequeira's resignation, Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly Ramesh Tawadkar too confirmed that he will resign from the post on Thursday morning, just hours before being sworn-in as Minister.
“The swearing in ceremony will take place tomorrow at 12 pm at Raj Bhavan,” Tawadkar said.
Sequeira is likely to be replaced in the cabinet by the former chief minister and Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, while Tawadkar will fill-up the post that had fallen vacant after Govind Gaude was dropped from the cabinet on June 18.
Sequeira and Kamat were among the group of eight turncoat MLAs who switched over to BJP in September 2022. Sequeira was inducted as Minister in December 2023.
