Sachi Dessai will take on Aayushi Amonkar in the Under-13 Girls final, while in the Under-15 Girls category, top seed Ishita Colaso will clash with second seed Aarna Lotlikar at the YMCA Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament being played at the Indoor Stadium, Campal.
Organised by YMCA Panjim in aegis with the Goa Table Tennis Association, the penultimate rounds produced thrilling contests with the top performers showing resilience under pressure to advance to the summit clashes.
In the U13 Girls quarterfinals, top seed Sachi Dessai brushed aside Inara D’Souza 3-0, while Tisha Shaikh registered a 3-0 win over Anaya Shukla, the U11 top seed. Gianna George produced an upset, edging out joint top seed Aarna Lotlikar 3-2, before Aayushi Amonkar (also seeded one) outplayed Evangeline Rodrigues 3-0.
The semifinals witnessed two nail-biting encounters as Sachi battled past Tisha 3-2, and Aayushi outlasted Gianna 3-2 to set up a much-anticipated title clash. In the U15 Girls section, Ishita Colaso downed Inara D’Souza 3-0 in the quarters and then dominated Sachi Dessai 3-0 in the semifinals. In the other half, Aarna Lotlikar overcame Tisha Shaikh 3-1 in the quarters before outplaying Aayushi Amonkar 3-0 to storm into the final.
