Adolescent electrocuted at Palolem; two booked

3rd incident of electrocution in Canacona within a month

An adolescent boy was electrocuted while performing welding of grills at Palolem, and Canacona police have booked two persons from Canacona on charges of engaging the adolescent boy for welding work.
According to Canacona police, Ningappa Lamani, a native of Karnataka but residing at Pansulem, filed a complaint that his adolescent son died of electrocution while performing welding work on Monday noon.
Lamani accused two persons, Sidharth of Mastimol-Canacona and Joseph of Palolem, of engaging his adolescent son for welding work without providing any safety measures, adding that his son had died due to their negligence.
Acting on the complaint, Canacona police booked both the accused under Section 106(1) r/w 3(5) of BNS & Sec 14 of the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Vishal Velip of Canacona Police Station.
This is the third incident of electrocution in Canacona taluka within a month. On September 27, a youth, Nagesh Lingappa Lamani, a native of Gadag, Karnataka, was working at a workshop in Canacona when he came into contact with live current and was electrocuted at the site. Two days later, Suraj Rajputh Lodi (21) was electrocuted at his house in Loliem.
