Ahead of upcoming Zilla Panchayat elections, due in December, the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has set in motion a comprehensive exercise to identify strong, winnable candidates and to strengthen connect with voters.
Gearing up for polls, GPCC President Amit Patkar chaired district congress committee meetings that saw participation of block presidents, grassroots workers, and senior functionaries. Deliberations focused on identifying strong, credible candidates and finalising strategies to strengthen connect with voters in every village.
Patkar said that the party is fully prepared on the ground to face the ZP elections with confidence.
“Our priority is to ensure that every ZP member reflects the true aspirations of the people and works for grassroots development, transparency, and accountability,” he said.
While the BJP government continues to remain disconnected from the ground and obsessed with power politics, the Congress Party is standing shoulder to shoulder with Goans in protecting the identity, heritage, and resources of the state, Patkar said.
He said that Zilla Panchayat institutions must become instruments of people’s progress, not platforms for political misuse — and Congress is determined to ensure exactly that.
“The ZP elections will be a decisive step towards restoring people’s voice, strengthening village communities, and ensuring Goa’s future is shaped by the people, not dictated by vested interests,” Patkar said.
