Goa Needs Minority Commission convenor Matthew Almeida has said the organization is an alliance of various civic organisations and citizens' movements with a single motive to demand the establishment of Minority Commission in Goa.

The Alliance hailed  the recent judgement of the Supreme Court to quash the multiple FIRs under Uttar Pradesh Act on religious conversions.

"The Court also stated that Law is not a tool to harass innocents. The judgement comes in light of many cases filed against Anti-conversion Laws across many States in India, the state of Uttar Pradesh has the harshest of them. The topmost court in India quashed multiple FIRs in a judgement pronounced on October 17, 2025 at New Delhi, Justice Pardiwala found that the FIRs were vitiated by legal infirmities, procedural lapses. and lack of credible material as reported by The Hindu", the Alliance stated.

The Alliance recalled that the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had proposed the need of an anti-conversion Law in Goa.

"This statement was backed by Minister Mauvin Godinho along with Santa Cruz MLA Rudolfo Fernandes and Former Aldona MLA Glenn Ticio."

Citizens' alliance under the banner of Goa Needs Minority Commission had condemned the statement while mentioning how this inhuman law curtails human freedom and religious freedom and directly challenges the freedom ensured by the Constitution of India.

The recent judgement of the Supreme Court for quashing the FIRs on multiple people and deeming it as wrongful and inhuman only confirms what the Alliance GNMC has been constantly stressing upon, the Alliance added.
