PANAJI: A college student from Dhargalim-Pernem was attacked with acid at the bus stop early this morning while he was on his way to his institute in Mapusa.
Police said the incident occurred around 8:30 am when unidentified assailants on a two-wheeler allegedly threw acid on the victim, Rishab Shetye, and fled.
According to eyewitnesses, the teenager, in a state of panic and pain, ran along the road seeking help.
Police said the victim sustained burn injuries and was immediately shifted to the Goa Medical College, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Goa Police have arrested Nilesh Desai, a resident of Dodamarg, in connection with the attack. Further investigation is underway to establish the motive and determine if any other individuals were involved.
