A 48-year-old man, Pandurang Bhagat, a resident of Dabolim, Vasco, died in a self-accident near the Utorda bypass while he was on his way to Margao railway station on Monday.
According to police, the incident occurred when Bhagat was riding his Hornet motorcycle with his son as a pillion. He reportedly lost control of the two-wheeler and rammed into a roadside signboard. Both father and son fell off the vehicle, but Bhagat remained unresponsive.
He was immediately shifted to South Goa District Hospital, Margao (Hospicio), where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Verna police conducted an inquest panchanama and referred the body for a post-mortem. The autopsy revealed that the cause of death was “Cardiac tamponade consequent to rupture of the heart in the person with occlusive coronary artery disease.”
The body was later handed over to the family for final rites. A case of unnatural death has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The investigation is being conducted by PSI Pramila Fernandes under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and guidance of DySP Gurudas Kadam.
