CANACONA
Badal Naik Gaunkar and Raju S Naik Gaunkar won the elections for the posts of Attorney and President of Canacona comunidade respectively.
Badal Naik Gaunkar (193) won by seven votes, defeating contender Samrat Bhagat (186) for the post of Attorney. Raju, who received 209 votes, defeated Sanju Naik Gaonkar (157) by a margin of 20 votes for the president’s post while Vinay Hari Naik Desai (209) defeated Shamrao Naik Gaonkar (157) by a margin of 52 votes for the treasurer’s post.
The elections were conducted under the supervision of the Comunidade Administrators Office Election Officer Uday Naik Gaunkar, Presiding Officer Shripad Pagi, and Assistant Officer Narendra Desai of Margao Administrators Office.
Out of a total of 492 members of the Canacona Comunidade, 395 voted. The elections were conducted at the polling station in Kashipurush Hall of Shri Mallikarjun Devasthan. Voting began at 10 am, and the results were declared by late evening, around 7 pm.
According to sources, Adhoc committee Raghuraj Naik Gaunkar (215) won the post of President by 137 votes against Shamrao Desai (79 votes), while Alternate Attorney Mahabaleshwar Desai and Alternate Treasurer Narayan Desai were declared elected unopposed.
