MARGAO: The Cavelossim Village Panchayat on Friday inaugurated a road at Passos ward with much fanfare.
After the inauguration, Sarpanch Dixon Vaz said it was a dream come true for people in Passos ward in Cavelossim who did not have a road since Liberation and faced hardship, especially during the monsoon. “Now that the road is built, life will be much easier for the people. This road was a must, and I have been working on this project for the last two years. I worked hard to make it a reality, and I dedicate this road to all the people who have suffered since Liberation,” Dixon said, while addressing the people.
He added, “It was not easy to build a 350-metre road, but we could complete it with the support of my Panch members and the Panchayat Secretary.”
An 85-year-old villager, Piedade Passainha, said during the monsoon it was a nightmare for the local residents. Recalling his younger days walking through water and fields to go to school and church, he said no doctor could visit, and children had to get dressed only once they reached the other side, while thanking the Sarpanch and Panchayat for constructing the road.
