The Konkan Railway Corporation (KRC) has issued an advisory urging passengers to carefully check the revised monsoon timetable before commencing their journey, after several passengers reportedly missed their train due to changes in departure timings that came into effect on Monday.
The advisory follows an incident in which a group of passengers was left stranded at a railway station after their train departed earlier than the time they were accustomed to under the regular schedule. The affected passengers alleged that the train had left the station before its usual departure time.
Clarifying the situation, KRC senior official Baban Ghatge said there had been no irregularity in train operations and that services were running according to the annual monsoon timetable implemented on the Konkan Railway route from Monday.
Ghatge explained that every year, train schedules on the Konkan Railway network are revised during the monsoon season to ensure safe operations amid heavy rainfall, waterlogging risks and landslide-prone conditions along the route. As part of the revised timetable, the departure and arrival timings of several trains have been altered.
"Passengers should take note of the monsoon timetable before undertaking their journey. Trains are operating as per the revised schedule and not according to the regular timetable followed during the rest of the year," Ghatge said.
The Konkan Railway route, which passes through the coastal regions of Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka, is particularly vulnerable to adverse weather conditions during the monsoon. To enhance safety and maintain operational efficiency, the railway administration introduces seasonal timetable changes every year.
KRC has appealed to passengers to verify train timings before commencing their journey.
