Days after the stalemate at Goa Medical College ended with a visit by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and an alleged symbolic apology to a chair, the Congress party on Thursday accused the BJP-led government of “compromising” the issue.
Addressing a press conference, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Chief Amit Patkar said that the entire GMC fiasco, the Chief Minister’s visit, the alleged symbolic apology to the CMO chair — everything seems to be a “stage-managed tiatr.”
“CM completely compromised on the issue. CM failed the people of Goa and the doctors’ fraternity by failing to take action against the Health Minister for his behaviour,” he said.
“Despite having a complete majority with 33 MLAs, the Chief Minister has no courage to take the decision in the interest of his own government,” Patkar said, also referring to Minister Govind Gaude’s “corruption” remark against the government.
“One Minister accused the government of corruption. What action has the CM taken?” he questioned.
Patkar said that the recent incidents of minor girls’ rape case, Calangute assault incident, and kidnapping of a business in Ponda prove the complete collapse of law and order in the State.
