Construction worker dies after falling off building at Sancoale

A 27-year-old labourer from Haveri, Karnataka, but residing at Zuarinagar, died after reportedly falling off a building under construction at Sancoale.

According to reports, Verna police received information from the Casualty of the Sub District Hospital (SDH) at Chicalim, stating that Basvraj Arakeri was brought in dead following a fall from a height.

During the inquiry, it was revealed by Basvraj ’s brother, Pradeep Hyati, that the duo were working on the open terrace of a building when Basvraj accidentally slipped and fell from the third floor to the ground. He sustained injuries to his face and was rushed to SDH Chicalim, where he was declared brought dead.

Police conducted an inquest panchanama at the site and later sent the body to the South Goa District Hospital at Margao, where an autopsy was conducted. The police surgeon certified the cause of death as “damage to head, chest and abdomen consequent to blunt force impact.” The body was later handed over to the family members for final rites.

Verna police registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the BNS. Verna PSI Mahesh Bhomkar carried out the investigation under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
