PANAJI: Aldona MLA Carlos Alvares Ferreira has hit back at anti-party charges stating that he is a loyal Congress leader and will continue to be part of the party even if he remains a sole MLA. Ferreira claimed that the move is a “political strategy of BJP to create division within Congress”.
Speaking to media persons, Ferreira said that his participation in BJP MLA Nilesh Cabral’s birthday was part of his personal relationship and has nothing to do with politics. “I knew Cabral even before he became MLA. He used to come to my house. I have a personal relationship with him and I went for his birthday on that ground,” he said. “There should not be a shadow of doubt. I am not at fault and will reply to any notice,” he said.
Ferreira also shot back at party president Amit Patkar for his “childish” and “foolish” act of writing a letter to party in-charge Manikrao Thakare.
“If you read the letter, it is very childish and foolish. I don’t think any party president can be so immature to make such childish statements,” he said.
The MLA said that he had informed Patkar and Thakare in advance that he might not be able to attend the Congress event due to a hearing in the High Court.
