PANAJI: The Goa Forward Party (GFP) has launched a statewide membership drive, with party chief Vijai Sardesai calling on citizens, especially the youth, to join what he described as a movement to protect Goa’s identity, future, and “Goemkarponn.”

Addressing supporters, Sardesai said the initiative is aimed at rebuilding public trust and accountability. “I am making a sincere appeal to Goans, especially our youth, to come forward and become part of this movement for Goa,” he said.

He launched a sharp attack on the current administration, citing unemployment and governance failures. “Lakhs of educated youth are still without jobs. Goa today stands among the highest in unemployment, and that should worry all of us,” he said.

Taking aim at governance systems, he said administrative inefficiency and corruption have become widespread. “Even simple work in government offices has become a struggle for ordinary citizens. Commission has become the mission of the system,” he said.

On law and order, he expressed concern over what he described as a decline in safety. “Goa, once known for peace and stability, is now witnessing a rise in crime. There is growing insecurity among women, youth, and senior citizens,” he said.

He also raised concerns over land sales and infrastructure decisions. “Goa’s land is being steadily transferred to outsiders, and major projects are being pushed ahead despite strong opposition from local communities,” he said.

On social cohesion, he warned against growing divisions. “Goa has always been known for unity across communities, but today we are seeing unnecessary divisions being encouraged,” he said.

Calling for public participation, he urged citizens to join the campaign. “This is the time for Goans to stand together and shape their future. The youth must take the lead in this effort,” he said.
