Goa MSMEs to get boost under ECLGS 5.0: CM

PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that the Center approved Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) 5.0 will give a major boost to MSMEs in Goa across sectors.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Cabinet, calling the move timely and decisive in supporting businesses amid global economic uncertainty.

Sawant said the scheme would directly benefit Goa’s MSMEs by easing working capital constraints and protecting livelihoods.

“For Goa, this will empower our MSMEs across tourism, hospitality, fisheries, and allied sectors with much-needed working capital, supporting local enterprises, safeguarding livelihoods, and strengthening the state’s economy,” he added.

ECLGS 5.0 is aimed at easing short-term liquidity stress caused by global disruptions, including the West Asia crisis.

It provides 100% credit guarantee coverage for MSMEs and 90% for non-MSMEs and the airline sector through the National Credit Guarantee Trustee Company Limited (NCGTC), with no guarantee fee.

Eligible borrowers include MSMEs and non-MSMEs with existing working capital limits as of March 31, 2026, and scheduled passenger airlines with standard loan accounts.

The scheme allows additional credit of up to 20% of peak working capital utilisation in Q4 FY26, capped at Rs 100 crore for MSMEs and non-MSMEs, while airlines can access up to 100% additional credit, capped at Rs 1,500 crore.

Loan tenure is five years for MSMEs and non-MSMEs (with one-year moratorium) and seven years for airlines (with two-year moratorium). The guarantee cover will remain co-terminus with the loan period, and the scheme will apply to loans sanctioned up to March 31, 2027.

Officials said the initiative is expected to support businesses, protect jobs, stabilise supply chains, and ensure continuity of domestic production.
