PANAJI: A parasailing outing in Goa turned into a near-death experience for a woman who said a brief moment of adventure quickly escalated into panic.
Sushmitha Gowrav, a nutritionist who shared her account on Instagram, posted a video of the incident that has since gone viral, drawing over 2.3 million views.
“What started as a fun parasailing experience in Goa, ended with me struggling in the middle of the sea,” she wrote. She alleged that she fell into the water during the activity and at one point found a rope tightening around her neck, leaving her in a state of panic and fear.
“No camera can capture that feeling when you realise you’re not in control anymore,” she added.
Sushmitha said she was eventually rescued and credited the timely intervention for saving her life. “I was lucky. Someone came. Someone saved me. Not everyone gets that second chance,” she wrote.
Calling it a cautionary experience for tourists, she urged people to be more careful before taking up water sports. “Before you try any water sport, ask questions, check safety, trust your gut. Because some experiences don’t just stay as memories… they stay as trauma,” she said.
