Grants age relaxation of 40 yrs for unreserved group

In a major decision, the Goa Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has allowed police constables, head constables and assistant sub-inspectors, who have rendered at least three years continuous service, to apply for the post of Police Sub-Inspector, the advertisement for which was issued on May 2.
The Commission has also granted them age relaxation upto 40 years for unreserved candidates and those from Economically Weaker Section and Other Backward Class and 45 years for reserved category – Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Cast to apply for the post. Total 187 posts have been advertised by the Commission. For others, the age limit fixed is upto 28 years.
“The Commission has now made necessary changes in Online Application for the post of Police Sub Inspector by incorporating the option of Departmental candidates (i.e. Police Constable, Head Constable and Assistant Sub- Inspector) who have rendered at least 3 years continuous service in Goa Police Department by allowing age relaxation to them to apply for the post upto the age of 40 years for UR/EWS/OBC category and upto the age of 45 years for ST and SC candidates,” the Commission said in a notice issued on May 13.
Total 30 posts are reserved for female Police Sub-Inspector. The candidate must have a degree of a recognized University or three years Diploma Course in Security and Investigation Technology from a recognized Board/Institute and Knowledge of Computers apart from their Physical Standards and Physical Efficiency Tests:
For Male Candidates, the minimum height of 168 cms while for departmental candidates minimum height of 167 cms, Chest: Unexpanded: 80 cms. and expanded: 85 cms.
For female Candidates, the minimum height of 160 cms and weight not less than 45 kgs.
