Hours after his bail in Goa, Curlies' alleged owner Edwin Nunes was arrested by the Hyderabad (Telangana) Police from Anjuna on Friday.

Sources said the Lalaguda police sleuths were camping in Goa after the Additional Sessions Court, Mapusa had earlier this week directed him to surrender before the Anjuna police for forging a Covid-19 certificate. He was arrested at Anjuna with the assistance of the local police, and subsequently taken to Hyderabad via road.

Goa police have confirmed to The Goan that Nunes was handed over to its counterparts police team after his bail formalities were completed. "He walked out of the police custody after complying with the bail conditions imposed by the Court. The Hyderabad police were already at the police station waiting for him. They took his custody for inquiry in the cases registered in their state against Nunes," a senior officer at PHQ Panaji said.

Sources also said that Nunes' family members have been in Hyderabad ever since he filed for anticipatory bail before various courts.

Nunes is among dozens of drug dealers wanted by the Hyderabad police in a drug bust reported three months ago. While he made several attempts to evade arrest, the High Court of Telangana last week directed him to surrender before the Lalaguda police on November 7.

Senior Counsel appearing for Nunes argued there is no offense against his client and that it was only based on a vague allegation made in the complaint stating that in March, 2022, Accused Shyam Thakur met Nunes for which reason, he was implicated in the present case.

The Assistant Public Prosecutor on the other hand submitted that Nunes is involved in several cases and he was a drug peddler operating from Goa.
