A major fire engulfed a residential house at Telaulim village on Sunday evening causing major loss of property.

Locals claimed that they heard of two LPG cylinder explosions in the house. No one, however, was injured in the incident. Fire personnel confirmed that two cylinders exploded inside the house, while they managed to remove two cylinders from the structure.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening at around 7 pm when the inmates of the house, including children, were discussing over the lunar eclipse.

Suddenly, someone spotted fire in the house and it soon spread around the entire premises, destroying all household items, including cupboards, washing machine, chairs, roof tiles, utensils, besides the walls.

The Margao fire brigade used two water tenders to bring the fire under control.

Owner Prakash Parmar stated that they normally put fire to boil water in the store room, adding that he cannot say whether the fire originated from the kitchen or because of a suspected short circuit.
