MARGAO
Rossman Cruz Nagoa Sports Club booked their place in the semi-finals of the 50th Chandor Seamen Football Tournament, organised by Chandor Club at the Chandor ground, after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club.
Sao Jose de Areal created early chances but failed to convert, with their forwards squandering opportunities in front of goal. Nagoa capitalised in the 21st minute when Johan Abranches latched onto a midfield pass and drilled a low shot past the keeper to put his side ahead at the break.
Areal drew level in the 54th minute through Navil Fernandes, but their momentum was disrupted when Dezi Oliveira was sent off for violent conduct. Minutes later, a deflection from an Areal defender off Aglon’s cross gifted Nagoa the winning goal. Johan Abranches was named Hero of the Match.
