Margao MLA Digambar Kamat praised Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for according state festival status to Margao’s century-old Dindi festival.

Speaking to the media at the party district office in the presence of BJP Secretary Sarvanand Bhagat and District Chief Prabhakar Gaonkar, Kamat said, “The Chief Minister’s budget has something for all sections of society, from garbage workers to taxi drivers. Everyone has got a pleasant surprise after the Chief Minister presented the state budget for the financial year 2025-26. The CM has presented the budget after extensive study and interactions with stakeholders, focusing on the overall development of the state.”

Kamat also welcomed the Chief Minister’s decision to grant State festival status to the Dindi festival, fulfilling the long-standing demand of the people of Margao. He added that the government would soon release guidelines for organising the festival.

Kamat made special mention of the government’s decision to regularise the services of daily wage municipal workers across civic bodies. “In Margao alone, around 180 daily wage workers will benefit. They have been waiting for regularisation for a long time, with some of them having retired or passed away before receiving it,” he said.

He thanked the Chief Minister for taking the bold decision to regularise the workers’ services, which he said would bring joy to the workers and their families.
