MARGAO
The All Goa Lorry Owners’ Association has issued an indefinite strike notice to the South Goa District Collector, demanding the immediate resumption of heavy commercial vehicle movement along the Anmod-Goa NH-748 route.

The notice comes three days after the Collector’s office issued a notification on Sept 12, allowing only six-wheeler commercial and emergency service vehicles on the landslide-affected stretch.

Calling the move an “injustice to heavy commercial vehicle operators,” the Association said its members have no choice but to go on strike at the NH-748 Mollem check post area from Sept 21.

The association said it had submitted a letter on August 14, 2025 requesting the lifting of the ban imposed via a notification on July 7, 2025.

“In contradiction to our letter dated 14/08/2025, you have issued a fresh notification... which is an injustice,” the notice stated.

It added: “Due to the failure of the government to provide infrastructure... our business is badly hampered... There is no accountability of the concerned departments... and no sign of the road being repaired.”

The association urged the Collector to revise the order within two days or face an indefinite strike.
