VASCO: A resident of Vasco was allegedly cheated of Rs 2,30,948 after a person posing as a bank officer asked him to download a fake mobile application. According to a complaint filed by Mahadev Tadel from Mundvel, the incident took place on February 7 at around 1.28 am. Tadel said he received a call from an unknown person who claimed to be a bank official. The caller sent an APK file and told him that installing the app would make banking transactions easier. Soon after he downloaded the file, Rs 2,30,948 was allegedly withdrawn from his bank account. Vasco police have registered an offence under Section 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
