VASCO: A Vasco resident lost Rs 1,83,600 after he opened a fake APK file sent in the name of an RTO e-challan.
In a complaint, Lalsab Bagwan of Dactolem said the incident took place on February 7 at around 12.48 pm.
He said an unknown person sent him an APK file claiming it was linked to an RTO e-challan.
The file also carried an image of his brother. Thinking it was genuine, Bagwan opened the file.
Soon after, Rs 1,83,600 was withdrawn from his bank account without his permission.
Vasco police have registered an offence under Section 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
