The Cyber Crime Police Station arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly blackmailing and sexually harassing his former girlfriend by circulating her private photographs and videos on social media and extorting money from her.
The case, registered on November 28, alleged that the accused, identified as Kuber Sunar, had obtained the complainant’s private images during their relationship and later misused them after the couple separated. The woman complainant is a resident of Caranzalem and hails from Nepal.
“The accused operated multiple WhatsApp numbers and used fake identities such as Oscar D’Souza, Subhash D’Souza and Niranjan to threaten the complainant. He allegedly created fake Instagram and Facebook profiles in the name “Bhumi Dangaura” and forwarded the complainant’s private content to her acquaintances, causing harassment and defamation,” SP Cyber Crime Rahul Gupta said.
The investigation team, the officer said, also found that the accused demanded sexual favours and extorted Rs 35,000, which the victim transferred to two bank accounts via UPI. The harassment allegedly drove the complainant to attempt self-harm.
