PANAJI
Goa continues to experience warmer-than-normal conditions over the past 24 hours, as temperatures have consistently remained above seasonal averages, and the heat index makes it feel significantly hotter.
As per the India Meteorological Department’s Meteorological Centre, Goa, the coastal state recorded dry weather across both North and South Goa, with Panaji logging the maximum temperature of 34.4°C, about 1.7°C above normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 24.4°C, also above the seasonal average.
High humidity levels combined with rising daytime temperatures pushed the “feels like” temperature in Panaji to around 41°C.
Observations from the Mormugao station also showed warmer conditions, with the maximum temperature reaching 33.8°C and the minimum 24.6°C, both slightly above normal.
The weather department has forecast mainly sunny and dry conditions across Goa for the coming week, with maximum temperatures likely to remain in the 33-34°C range and minimum temperatures around 24-25°C, indicating no major change in the prevailing warm pattern.
While the temperatures remain below the threshold required to declare a heatwave in the coastal state, the IMD has cautioned that above-normal daytime temperatures and humidity can lead to dehydration and heat stress, particularly for children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing health conditions. People are advised to limit prolonged exposure to the sun during peak hours and stay hydrated.
