The family of a landlord who rented a part of his house to a Madhya Pradesh man at Manasvado, heaved a sigh of relief when Mardol police managed to crack the case of theft of Rs 4.5-lakh worth gold jewellery and arrest the tenant within hours of their complaint.
Pradeep Babulal Navait (30), a native of Madhya Pradesh, lived at Geeta Naik's house in Manaswada Kundaim as a tenant and on Monday when all in the family were not at home, he stole the jewelry from the cupboard.
On discovering the theft, Naik's family members rushed to the Mardol police station and lodged their complaint following which Police Inspector Yogesh Sawant immediately started investigating and detained Pradeep on suspicion.
Following intense interrogation, Pradeep finally confessed the theft and he was then arrested late on Monday night, Sawant said, adding that further investigations, including recovery of the jewelry are in progress.
