Goa has experienced a lull in rainfall over the past 48 hours with only isolated areas recording light to very light showers. The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Goa confirmed that the southwest monsoon has been weak over the State during this period.

However, since the early onset of the monsoon on May 25 -- arriving 12 days ahead of schedule -- Goa has recorded around 235.4 mm of rainfall, which has been above average.

Meanwhile, although the IMD had earlier forecast a dry spell until June 3, updated forecasts have placed both June 1 and June 2 under a yellow alert. As per the daily bulletin, heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated locations across both North Goa and South Goa districts on these two days.

The period till June 6 remains under a green alert, which indicates no weather warnings. During this phase, light to moderate rainfall is expected in most parts of the state.

In the past 24 hours, despite a reprieve from heavy downpours, Goa witnessed a rise in daytime temperatures. The maximum temperature reached 32.2°C, while the minimum stood at 27.8°C.
