MARGAO: Winds of change have once again swept through the Sao Jose de Areal Village Panchayat, as six members have moved a no-confidence motion against Sarpanch Carmina Fernandes and Deputy Sarpanch Piedade Cardozo. The motion has been signed by Joycee Veyona Dias, Marcelino Galdino, Georgina Tereza, Sandeep Ram Naik, Linda Fernandes and Valente Fernandes.
The members have requested the Salcete Block Development Officer to call a special meeting of the Panchayat to decide on the motion. They have alleged that the Sarpanch and Deputy Sarpanch do not take other members into confidence while making administrative or development decisions.
The signatories also claimed that both office bearers have misused their powers by acting beyond what is permitted under the Panchayat Act. They further alleged that the Sarpanch and Deputy Sarpanch have failed to implement several resolutions passed by the Panchas.
