Officials of the Legal Metrology has on Tuesday confirmed that the LPG cylinders attached by the Colva police in Seraulim were found irregular in weight.
Officials of the Civil Supplies department are yet to give its report on the LPG cylinders. Also, the police said the Police could not get a report on the source of the LPG cylinders found in the Seraulim yard.
Colva police station in-charge, PI Arun Desai told The Goan that the Legal metrology officials have confirmed that the cylinders checked by them have turned out underweight.
Meanwhile, the Colva police said the five arrested persons from Rajasthan were found in the illegal process of LPG decanting without taking proper safety measures and endangering human lives.
PI Arun said the accused Persons were found transporting, distributing, storage of LPG Cylinders illegally without holding authorized Permissions from the competent authorities, thereby hampering, tampering the regular supply of LPG cylinders i.e. essential commodity to the Public.
All the five persons have been remanded to six days police custody.
The Police has registered FIR under section 288, 125 R/w 3 (5) of BNS, 2023, Sec 16, 23 of Petroleum Act, Sec 7 (ii) of Essential Commodity Act 1955, and Sec 9B(b) of The Explosives Act, 1884.
