Goan Fiesta is paying tribute to the legends of Goan theatre Ophelia and Bab Peter on a show jointly presented by Soul Fry Community and the daughter of Bab Peter and Ophelia, Tatum. The Soul Fry Community and Tatum (Babli) would be presenting the Bab Peter-Ophelia tribute show on Nov 8 at 8 pm.

She will be opening the show and performing a half-an-hour set along with two singers from Mumbai – Joe Travasso and Melroy Fernandes. Together the trio would be singing iconic classics of Bab Peter and Ophelia – solos, duets and trios.

The Soul Fry Community has invited Gladrin (Voice of Goa 2010) and Jacinth from UK and Normandez from Goa to render some more of the audience favourites.

Tatum will also be launching her new music album ‘Mog and Music’ this month. This production will feature classic Bab Peter songs, his unreleased work and Tatum’s own original compositions. This will be a first of its kind timeless and endless album and she will add a new song every month.

Bab Peter and Ophelia’s love story began on the Konkani stage and together they produced and directed many popular tiatrs such as Apurbaieche Teg Khambe, Konn Nhoi Konnacho, Mijeas, Guneaum Mhozo Nhoi and Konkani music albums like Konknni Motiam, GOAN, Myrose etc.

Every year around her parent’s birth anniversaries (Ophelia November 8 and Bab Peter November 10), Tatum, an actor and singer herself, launches a new initiative to celebrate their memory.

Ophelia, also known as the ‘Tragedy Queen of the Konkani stage’, started her journey as an actor in 1954 in her first tiatr by Late JF Rod, and has acted in over 300 dramas in a career spanning over 44 years. Not only has she demonstrated her skills in path-breaking performances in Avoicho Xirap, Kedna Udetolo To Dis, but also in films like Amchem Noxib, Nirmonn. She has won several awards including the Goa State Cultural Award in 2014.

Bab Peter began his career as a child artiste in 1963 when he was 10 years old and immediately won the hearts of audience and artistes alike. He was a singer and director par excellence, won several awards and remembered by all for his iconic style.
