In what the Goa government claims is a major boost to doorstep governance, the Gramin Mitra Yojana has recorded over 1.4 lakh service requests since its launch with 25,000 recorded this year so far.

“In 2024 alone, over 1.15 lakh requests were recorded. By mid-2025, more than 25,000 transactions have already been completed. This indicates a steady uptake and deepening reach of the initiative,” an official said.

The Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (ITE&C), the implementing agency, stated that the scheme eliminates repeated visits to government offices especially in remote and rural areas where access remains a challenge.

“The program has brought considerable relief to senior citizens, women, and students by simplifying the process of availing key services such as residence, caste and EWS certificates, and applications for schemes like the Kala Samman for senior artists. Gramin Mitra is bridging the digital divide and building an inclusive service delivery model,” he said.

The scheme is implemented through CSC e-Governance infrastructure and supported by a centralised helpline (14471), operational seven days a week from 8 am to 8 pm. Citizens can initiate requests without navigating digital interfaces, ensuring accessibility for those unfamiliar with online systems.

Further details reveal that there were over 190 Gramin Mitras set up across all panchayats and urban municipalities a year ago with the initiative providing access to over 200+ essential services.
